Burlington — The Ontario Liberal Party is pleased to announce Eleanor McMahon will be seeking re-election as the Ontario Liberal candidate for the riding of Burlington in the 42nd provincial general election.

"Serving as MPP for Burlington is a distinct honour and privilege. I am enormously grateful for the opportunity to listen to, work with and fight for the hardworking residents I meet every day,” said Eleanor McMahon. “I’m proud of the steps we have taken together and am running for re-election because of my excitement and readiness to continue the work we started together, attracting jobs and investments to Burlington, enhancing access to health care, investing in infrastructure and education, and working with community leaders on issues ranging from mental health access, affordable housing and transportation to help Burlington families get ahead."

McMahon was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2014 as MPP for Burlington and was appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry. She was a member of the Select Committee on Sexual Violence and Harassment and Co-Chair of the All-Party Cycling Caucus. She currently serves as Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport and is a member of the Treasury Board.

"Eleanor is one of the biggest breaths of fresh air to hit Queen’s Park in a long time, and that is why we need her back. She is a local champion. She fought for her community on the expansion of Joseph Brant hospital, as well as those affected by the horrible flooding, and many other issues," said Ted McMeekin, MPP for Ancaster-Dundas-Flaborough West and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier. "She is bright, compassionate, articulate and absolutely gets it. That is why we need to do all we can to have her back at Queen’s Park fighting for Burlington."

Local City Councillor Rick Craven added, "Eleanor has surpassed all expectations for an MPP. She is truly dedicated to Burlington and its many causes. I’m proud to support her."
